This class will be updated and presented in 2012. We will post the dates and locations here soon.
The agenda below, from 2011, is shown here as a sample of what is covered in this class.
Taught by
Marianne Couch, JD

How does the April 14 repeal of 1099-MISC expansion affect your organization? What's actually
reportable now?
Why did the IRS issue a new Form W-9, and how does it impact your internal operations?
Penalties for 1099 failures are two or more times what they used to be - what are recommended "best
practices" to implement for the lowest exposure to penalty risk?
Are backup withholding events being overlooked in your organization? The IRS is auditing on this now.
How should you validate reportable data received on Form W-9; separate foreign payees that are
subject to the separate rules for 1042 withholding and reporting; perform file cleanup before year end?
What do you need to know about how to file, filing deadlines, payee statement deadlines, extensions?
What do you need to know about state Form 1099 filing requirements?

This new 1-day training program, updated for 2011, will equip you for compliance with Form 1099 tax
reporting requirements -- including changes effective this year and next year.
Form 1099 penalty increases are also now in effect, doubling the basic penalty amount and raising the
annual ceiling to 1.5 million dollars.  This training program will cover recommended policies and
procedures to lessen the risk of Form 1099 noncompliance in your organization.
And, your participation in this training program gives you three months of custom support by Cokala's
